What banner sizes do you consider standard

While reading through the polls, I found an affiliate named NDG who said

It's very annoying when you want to promote an affiliate program, but they don't
even have banners for all of the standard sizes. At the top of the list of priorities
for affiliate programs should be an abundance of marketing material for affiliates.

That got me wondering, as an affiliate, what sizes do you look for? What are considered standard? Do you want language specific, or just English? Finally, is there such a thing as too many banners to choose from?

Just wondering.

468x60
728x90
250x250
300x250
300x300
would probably be the basic ones.

There's no such thing as too many. Ideally the banners would be available in the language of the target market, and even more ideally, the banner would use geolocation to display the proper language version - and the appropriate landing page when clicked.

Also, Flash banners should be complemented by GIF banners as the latter are more convenient in many cases, for example, they resize with the screen while Flash banners do not.

Not that anyone did it right so far.

For general across the board 1000x100, 1000x150, 300x250 and 300x150 or 100 .. work well for both mobile and desktop, 300x600 for sidebar... 468 728 are pretty small in this 1080 responsive age

Really important are for me 468x60, 728x90, 300x250, 120x600, than maybe 900x100 and something for popup..

I mainly use 468x60, 234x60, 250x250, 125x125, 120x240 and 120x600.

Language specific is always good to have.

Many banners to choose from for the affiliate is good.
Many banners to choose from for the visitor can be somewhat confusing

We have thousands of banners available in our program.

The only problem I have found with having so many is that when the offer changes and you need to replace them all in the backend, it is a shitload of work.

For me : Priority to 120x60 - after : 125x125 - 468x60 - 250x250

We try update banners every time there is a new game etc , but I'm of the opinion that if you use generic ones with standard offers advertised its better and easier for you as an affiliate.

Then you dont have to worry about each time a new game is launched that your banners are out of date .. I do however supply these to any affiliate that asks for these and we upload them also to the system for people to pull any time

Agree with all the above but I did not see 234x60 mentioned (unless I missed it) Exactly half a 468x60 and I can almost always make them, but what a pain.

The absolute BIGGEST pet peeve not covered....

WEIGHT!

Don't even try to give me a banner that is 100k or more. That is heavier than entire pages. Sure some may think its really cool to have all those flashy animations in 35 frames, but no way will I use a creative that heavy.

I will at times attempt to remove a lot of the frames and make them usable, but if I have to do too many of those....I just move on to another operator where I do not have to go through that.

Edited to add: Another size I did not see mentioned is 160x600. Now I never actually use that size, but I will take one and reduce it keeping perspective and they make nice 120x450's lol. A size I found works ok when 120x240 doesn't quite fill the space you want but 120x600 makes the column too long.

The standard sizes we consider are:

120x240
120x600
125x125
160x600
234x60
240x120
250x250
300x250
468x60
728x90

We make banners outside of these sizes (which can be requested on a case by case basis), but have stuck to only uploading these sizes to our site because it makes it easier to replace later down the track if we need to.
