Lightbulb ➤ For sale: affiliate website with €18,184 profit in 2019

    Corona?

I hereby sell my successful Belgian affiliate website about football betting. I can hear you thinking: "That must have something to do with corona?!" Nothing could be further from the truth. Of course there will be no football in the short term, but soon with matches behind closed doors the gambling sector even expects an increase in turnover (as we see today in casino revenue). Because of COVID-19 and the associated rules of social distancing, people are seeing hobbies and possibly even their holidays disappear, causing them to spend more unstructured time at home. Some gamble against boredom, others for excitement.

    Future perspective

In addition, it has been proven that the biggest income years are invariably the ones with a big football tournament. In that respect, the future looks bright with the European Football Championship (and the Summer Olympics) in 2021 and the World Cup in 2022. Even more important is the legalization of the Dutch gambling market in 2021, which will allow an increase in scale of 260%. After all, the target group of 6.5 million Flemish people in Belgium is expanding by more than 17 million Dutch people. Finally, there are also numerous opportunities for growth within Belgium itself.

    Reason of sale

I never had the intention to sell this website, but in May 2019 my main source of income from this project fell away. That was because Facebook tightened its advertising rules and I had to submit all kinds of documents in order to be able to run advertisements. Because I still hadn't heard anything from Facebook months later, I decided to change my focus. That's how I ended up in the world of e-commerce and I'm still working on that full-time. In December I finally got the approval from Facebook to run advertisements for my affiliate website again, but now I can't go back to this project due to contractual obligations in the e-commerce world. All this can be proven by documents.

    Financial results

In 2017 and 2018 I've built and invested everything in this website, which resulted in the following results last year:

    • Total turnover in 2019: €22,201
    • Total costs in 2019: €4,017
    • Total profit in 2019: €18,184

    Interested?

I've compiled a comprehensive sales document for the year 2019 (available in English and Dutch). However, in order to protect the new owner, this can only be viewed after signing the accompanying non-disclosure agreement. Are you interested? Please send me a private message for more information.

Sports is the biggest hit industry around so this will be tough to sell unless your commissions are still high now. I don’t know buyers would want to sign NDA either. Either way best of luck on selling.

I may be interested. Without going too deep, is the web site a .com / .be domain and what is the sites main language?

It's a .be website (but the .com domain name variant is included in the sale). The website language is Dutch.

So, basically, if Facebook is out of the picture, this website wouldn't get any visitors. Right?

Unless, you really, and I mean really need the money for personal reasons, keep it. You don't know how your e-commerce thing will pan out, and might be regretting this sale afterwards.

That's experience talking, but do whatever.

No, that's not correct. The origin of the visitors is as follows:

    • Social: 56,1%
    • Organic: 33,7%
    • Direct: 8,9%

But without the sales document you can't form a correct image of the website.

Indeed, I don't know how the e-commerce adventure will turn out, but due to my contractual obligations, I don't have the time to get busy with this affiliate website anyway. Furthermore, I have more passion for e-commerce than for igaming. It's always better to do what you love, even if it brings in less money. But thanks for your advice.

I just sent you a PM. There's no 'fixed' price by the way. Anyone's free to make an offer.

I agree in the short term, but absolutely not in the long term. Certainly not when there are games behind closed doors and with the European Football Championship 2021 and the World Cup in 2022 in prospect.

As far as the NDA is concerned, you are absolutely right that it is difficult for people in the gambling industry to sign this. I wanted to get it out of the starting post, but apparently I can't adjust it.

Members who are interested in the website and would like to have a look at the sales document can send me their email address via PM.
