    Default Revenue Giants disappearing links

Has anyone had their links just disappear at Revenue Giants?

I was updating links on a few sites and was replacing a different bingo room and decided to use an RG property.

Well imagine my surprise when I went into Links Summary for South Beach and what should have shown me any links previous created (prior to 6-22-15), I only had ONE link in there....and any others I had previously created were gone.

Now maybe they think it is a good idea to hide links from affiliates so they do not put their links up on websites, but I honestly think this is almost as dumb as their math.

Now I do have some of them in a file, but I am not sure I have them all.

As I run across links that will need replaced I may or may not use THEIR links as they are no longer there....

Edited to add: It appears a lot of links are no longer available for some of their other properties, like maybe they don't want links placed on websites or something.

I posted last week over at AGD about the tracking issue. Emailed support but never had a reply.

I had noticed a drop in clicks quite a while ago but thought it was just maybe traffic. But it seemed to drop even more, especially all my slots village campaigns showing zero clicks. That made me look in it closely.

Been a few problems aside from the link summary issue.

The .coms redirect to .ag but most don't track seem to track, especially slots village and all the links are on https. I'm pretty sure they tracked before even with the redirect.

The changed the name of the parlay free slots page so it 404's, that was another problem.

I redid all my links with new sub campaigns.

I also get this message from the bingo free money landing pages live help:
Your request could not be completed, as the account you are attempting to reach is no longer active.

I don't think I have any bingo accounts, maybe an old slots village account to grab screens.

I wonder if some of the redirect issues you discovered are tied in to some links be destroyed/removed/otherwise redirected without notice or now going to 404's.

Maybe they had some bonus changes etc and used the theory that it is better to just go ahead and totally screw the links up and where traffic lands instead of just going ahead and redirecting the traffic to the home page and preserving the affiliate id.... (sounds like that unanmed software group told them how this works)

I will most likely go through the effort of checking all my links and creating new campaigns and links for those that do not work, but I am keeping time/date stamped notes on when I performed this and have no plans to ever do it again. If I find in the future this happens to any group I have gone through this with, the links get REPLACED.

When affiliates must go through the hassle of replacing links....the key word is REPLACE.

Understand, I am not necessarily advocating anyone converting this group well should drop them, but based upon a few discussions with affiliates, EVERYONE that does promote them should check all their links, ESPECIALLY of the links you have had up are years old.

yes, I put the creation date as part of the name on the new sub-campaigns.
Some of landing pages have been renamed like the vics free-slots to online-games.

It's a bit of a mess to tbh.

Thanks for reminding me as I haven't had the chance to check any of their casino links yet, although I promote their bingo a little more and do not push their casinos much, although I have heard from a few friends they do ok with them.

Most of us understand that we need to check our links once in a while, but as affiliates we also usually TRUST that links we choose, and test, and then place on our sites should continue to work for years to come, and we usually also expect them to continue to go the landing page we had chosen the link for.....especially when we choose links that go to a HOME PAGE.

I had redo all bingo links site wide as they were all missing under link summary.
I had a ton of slots village subs and a few Winward. I don't promote the other casinos.
    Hopefully its all tracking now.

I have found that some links still existed in the links summary and some didn't.

Some that did not exist in the summary still went to the home pages and some didn't.

If I found them missing from the summary I am usually replacing them with a new link, if they are in the summary and go to where I wanted them to go (home page) I make a note that I verified it correct on that date and move on.

I am making notes of the dates I am doing any give set of links since it will remind me that I documented when I did it since I have no plans to do it again.

All the links are https now so you might want to double check that to.

    Hi guys,

We’re happy to clarify the matter of the “disappearing links”, now that it was brought to our attention.

Although some URLs are no longer visible in the “Ad Management” section, please know that the results are quantified in your stats. The measure of hiding past links prevents new affiliates from generating tracking for promo offers which are no longer valid.

If there is anything that we are missing please provide an example and give us the opportunity to make a thorough check. We encourage you to write to us in private, providing your affiliate username to fasten the process.

    Thanks for your understanding,

Yes you are correct it makes so much more sense to answer the same damn questions 147 times instead of waiting 9 days to make a statement where hundreds and hundreds of your affiliates can see it at once.

The fact that links have disappeared, and are no longer available for view was NOT detailed to affiliates as a warning nor in a newsletter, nor in any kind of mailing to affiliates, nor in any forum posts where hundreds and hundreds of affiliates could see it.....until AFTER a number of affiliates complained.

It never ceases to amaze me when affiliate programs are given communications tools (that they pay for) and they just absolutely refuse to use them where BOTH the affiliate programs AND the affiliates would benefit, and affiliates are left wondering, and is the root cause of threads like this, since affiliate were NOT notified of such changes (such as the disappearing links).

Can you tell us, how many more times in the future this (links disappear) will happen?

I sent them an email explaining the missing Slots Village source id when it's on a .com domain. Compare the cookies.

The first image is an old slots village link on the .com domain that gets redirected with the source id to the .ag domain but where is the source id in the cookie?

The second image is after I created a new link that is on the .ag domain.

I am not sure that behavior is incorrect, but am interested to hear about why there is a difference.

The newer links do have a slightly different format when they are redirected, so it may not be a major problem, as long as your aff id is captured in the cookie, and it DOES appear to be capturing that correctly.

If I am mistaken about that I am certainly willing to listen to explanation.

Its only the .com that have the problem. I never saw any notification to change them over and I'm pretty sure they tracked until the last 2 months.

The .com doesn't record any clicks even after 30 minutes whereas when its .ag it records the click almost immediately.

Here is the link, test it yourself.
    hxxttp://www.slotsvillage.com/adpage2.asp?sourceid=101466

Change it to .ag and test it again.
