Hei,

I wish I could take this in spanish but I am not native speaker.

Our firm recently acquired a small spanish site. The site now has Curacao brands but I understand that the market is licensed and there are quite many operators to choose from. I am wondering if anyone have any insights on how to navigate this? Do they sanction affiliates or only brands? How competive is the commission schemes on licensed brands? Will I find the advertisers on Sigma, Igaming Next etc?

Spain only has a few licensed casinos and I dont see them adding anymore soon, if using a non Spanish license you will just be blocked and the ISP will divert your traffic to a list of regulated brands instead or show a block notice. So I would think carefully before investing too much money in that market.

Its not a big bet for us - we are an affiliate not a operator. So the question is how to navigate to the best solution. Promote licensed brands or the unregulated ones. They block affiliate sites as well?

Hi. Just for you to be aware, according to the local Spanish laws, an affiliate website cannot promote legal Spanish sites along with some illegal (illegal to them = not having an Spanish license). So a legal casino won't probably enable an affiliate deal for a website promoting such sites. In theory, just in theory because I have not yet seen any news with this, brands and affiliates can be punished for not following the rules.

All legal casino in Spain can be found in the DGOJ website, section "Operadores con Licencia". The commissions are not that great because the tax are very high

I don't understand that much about the "small Spanish site with Curacao brands", but it probably fits in what I explained above.

The last time I visited a conference I didn't find any legal Spanish brand there.

ifr you promote unregulated you wont get any traffic, maybe for a few months then it will just be blocked so not worth it.. stick with Spanish brands or just spanish language LATAm

I have Spanish and I do not mention Spain, Ecuador, Argentina or any other country in any paragraph or content on my page. There are no flags at the language switch.

Even with Spain blocked, it's worth running the site because Latam traffic will compensate for that, plus a VPN from Spain.
Besides, Latam countries accept almost everyone, Spain many, but some brands do not.

Great trick. I have the similar question as TS and you are right, but what do you think if I have .es domain? )

How can they do that besides blocking the site in Spain (something that the player can easily bypass). They focus on the operators mostly, and the operators keep an eye of aff sites to avoid problems.

I don't fully understand, but overall if you break some rule anything can happen. I was just pointing out that the DGOJ focuses more on operators rather than affiliates, so I think if your website promotes some sites that DGOJ don't approve, most likely that operator will reach you to fix it.

Let's say we were promoting partypoker.es along with some US-facing websites. It was partypoker that asked us to remove them from our site, not the DGOJ.

Yes, the pressure is on the operators to ensure they don't advertise on a non-compliant affiliate site, or they risk losing their license. So they will ask you to remove the offshore operators from your site. Bet365 do that a lot too.
