    Default Ranking Factors

    Hello everyone!

I found out an intersting article about 200 factors of Google ranking. https://backlinko.com/google-ranking-factors

I wonder that "everything" is taken into account even ammount of fans, followers, likes, +1 in Social networks, despite the fact that Matt Cutts states that +1 don't improve ranking.

What do you think about ranking factors?

Thanks for posting, very long but very good I agree with most of it, I tend to ignore a lot of the gurus and stuff that comes out from Matt Cutts and just make my own mind up.

Taking into account all these factors, I think that basic concern of SEO strategy should be getting backlinks, do-follow or no-follow it doesn't matter, since backlinks impact to other ranking factors such as PR or social signals.

Social media doesn't give any "juicy links", but it can bring traffic, that eventually impacts to search ranking.

I've never found any traffic to come from social media - more of a reference point in my opinion

Neither buying links at places that exist soley to sell links will give "juicy links" either.

Links that come naturally are always better. Links that exist on pages with good content, from content websites that make sense for the visitor are much stronger links, and always remember that links are only a portion of the ranking factors.

Very nice article. I do agree with what the article says about the social networking having a positive affect on your serps.

I read an article a while ago that explained that there is value in having a good facebook/twitter/pintrest profile. For instance if you have a lot of genuine followers who comment and your posts and retweet/share/mention them. This has a higher social network value than just a twitter account that tweets.

From my understanding social networking is extremely important but establishing a solid profile where you interact with your followers who like and comment on your posts is key.

    Does anyone disagree?

I don't have a lot traffic from social network, but I think that social media work for brand awareness anyway.

Probably you need to redo your social strategy, with proper Facebook and Twitter plan you can bring in a lot of traffic

What chance do we all have, I have only got down to no.63 and am bamboozled. Will need to take a day off to sit and read the rest.
Just goes to show how difficult it is to rank highly. Good piece though.

It should read: Social media optimization can possibly contribute to rankings.

There is very little evidence to support the definitive statement you made. Social Networking is important and you can get direct business from it, i have not read anything concrete. A while ago people were says google plus contributed but now many people say the opposite.

Social media is not part of SEO for me - it is marketing channel yes but there we don't speak about SEO - we speak for general digital marketing but this is another story. Social signals are some indicator but extremely weak in terms of ranking.
