A very much easy method I have used before simply I have follow few people most of the cases they follow back me 80% cases I have seen. Another important thing to increasing your followers you should give very good tweets over there,I have noticed that many people follow back to me for this.

I filter out from the tweets I receive those who have nothing to do with gambling or who are definitely gamblers, and then follow their followers who mostly follow me back. In this way I try to get some who are definitely not SEO specialists or gambling affiliates themselves. But, I must say I don't spend much time in doing this kind of thing.

A couple of days before, I came across this site called twellow.com where you can find the people of your same niche with twitter accounts.

Is it a good idea to follow the people on this site according to your niche ?

I use a few Twitter tools to weed out who I want to follow and following me, but this one is a fav. TweetDeck

TweetDeck is the leading browser for the real-time and social web, allowing users to connect with Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and MySpace.

Also, get involved in the community. Post replies, retweet things that are interesting, use top industry keywords...

I'm not sure if your using Tweet Deck but it makes Twitter a lot easier-especially if your running multiple accounts. I have some search terms set up that feel me anything that includes the words "online poker", for example. That way I'm not only checking out what the people I follow are saying, but also other people in the community I may want to begin following. Setting up some top keywords really helps see the big picture on twitter.

    Good luck!

I build numerous of twitter followers by responding to their tweets. Sometime, I offer them good links and informations. They are likely to follow back. Other followers see our conversation and liked. They decide to follow me.

Spend an hour a day reading and sharing. Do it minimally so that the way Twitter don't flag you as a spammer.

I have found that the most important things about getting followers is:

    1. Don't have a high following/followers ratio. This means try not to follow too many more than the amount following you. This makes everyone know your a real person and not a spamming machine.

    2. Update your account with tweets daily so that other tweeters will know your an active tweeter. (I use delicious to bookmark and tweet at the same time) Some previous posts mentioned other things like Hootsuite.

    3. Go through your following list weekly and drop all of the people who are not following you. (You can do this by clicking on the gear symbol next to each tweeter. You will see an option to direct message the person if they are following you.) If you do not see the direct message link than unfollow them.

I am sure there are more things you can do but this is what I do and I have over 1,500 followers so far.

You can follow me at https://twitter.com/PokerTweets4U

Using https://friendorfollow.com/ you can check who you are following without being followed back and vice versa.

Searching your keyword on the "Find People" section and following everyone presented there would allow you to grab some follow backs. Try it.

It is not that simple. If I use 'gambling' or 'casino' or something similar as keyword, I will get loads of contact from those who are also promoting the same stuff. Even if you use 'casino player' or 'gambler' you may not be very successful.
