Default Betfred kicks out players from a lot of countries

Hey guys, why you kick out all players from germany, austria, sweden, portugal and much more countries (i think it was in total 15)." It was a business decision". I mean, hell yes...world cup is in a few days...why not wait until 1 hour before the game starts

So why now and why so many countries?? How can any aff. make now serious money now??? There is no new law or something....this is not only 1 step back, that is running back for years!

This comes from the live chat:

We are no longer are accepting bets from -- Insert country name here --
    due to regulatory changes.

Customer services then can indicate that changes by the our regulatory bodies is leading to the commissions looking into bookmakers activities in countries where online gambling is illegal, unlawful or ambiguous, and as such Betfred has decided to cease taking any type of bets from these countries.

    Wow!

On a general basis I kind of admire sites that are willing to block countries due to regulatory changes. The gaming industry are changing, and different countries have different rules.

Being from Norway, and operating in the Scandinavian market for around 8 years I have seen big changes the last couple of years. Unfortunately changes that have turned my little forum to be a VERY small business. It has been vital for us to keep a very close eye on the legislation in both Norway, Sweden and Denmark.

A bit over a week ago I was informed (as a player) that they were to pull out of the Norwegian market. OK? WHY? WHAT? REALLY?

The decision really surprizes me. Norway has one of the weirdest rules in the world regarding online gambling, and on poker. There are however no restrictions on poker/casino/betting. ABSOLUTELY NO RESTRICTIONS! On the other hand the authorities has made things difficult to play. In first hand there are a very complicated system making deposits, basically you cant upload funds from your bank account to pokersites. You can upload funds via Neteller/skrill and other systems, but it is tricky and not an ideal system.

As a result of this it is only "hardcore" players and sites that offers a "kind of illegal" system that are able to offer poker and other forms of gambling.

But: THERE ARE NO REGULATORY CHANGES TO BE FOUND IN NORWAY. So basically Betfred are lying.

    On the other hand

A few years ago Denmark did infact change the rules for poker/casino/betting. These rules are actually rather easy to understand: If you dont have a licence then it is illegal to operate in Denmark. Most of the well known sites have this licence with a few exceptions: Full Tilt Poker, 888 and....guess what: BETFRED.

So basically you are pulling out of the different markets in Scandinavia EXCEPT for the country that YOU SHOULD HAVE PULLED OUT FROM! You guys are operating in the country that actually IS illegal while your pulling out of the market that you shouldnt have.

    WHY?

Of course it is business. Betfred managed to get a "foot" in the Danish market and youre probably making money in Denmark. Your business in the other countries are much much smaller so I guess that will not affect your bottom-line as much as in Denmark.

So youre not only lying, but youre infact lying for the wrong reasons. And on top of that you are cheating hard working affiliates for money.

A bit over a month ago I gave up my customers and told Betfred "byebye". I dont know whether I have made income in May...it really doesnt matter. And with this decision I would have been forced to give up anyway. But what is really certain: You have absolutely no credit whatsoever. You dont seem to know half of what you are doing. I am actually laughing at your incompetence.

I feel like there is a duty for me to tell the Danish Gaming Authorities on these actions. The Danish People dont deserve Betfred as an operator.

    Hi Guys
Betfred have removed a total of 18 countries from their sign up page due to regulatory reasons. These changes will affect players from web, mobile and download and all players have been advised to remove funds from their accounts.

The confirmed countries are listed below:

South Africa, Denmark, Germany, Sweden, Netherlands, Norway, Finland, Belgium, Poland, Bulgaria, Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Japan, Latvia, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia and Ukraine.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause. As ever, if you have any questions, please contact your affiliate manager or email hi[@]activewins[dot]com

    Thanks,

Thanks for your answer Cherelle, but is a shame your company warn affiliates after more than a week of warning players. I don't know what is your company idea but this is a really bad move (not the fact you decide to step out some markets, but how you did it).

The way the things are done, so closely to the world cup and without any kind of consideration for your affiliates it's a big no no to anyone continues to promote your brands.

Don't get me wrong on my words but is how the thing are.
