The one everyone hs been waiting for, I expect maybe Saturday or Sunday will see soem movement.
Making popcorn here...
1) Mozcast temperature hit 148 this afternoon EDT USA, with "Domain Diversity" spiking a tad. Interestingly, "Big 10 Influence" dropped a bit.
2) Would love to see Forbes and Techopedia get clipped. Techopedia has gained KWs in recent weeks; not sure if they're all gambling related. But they have remained strong.
3) Interesting quote: "As always, we aim to connect people with a range of high quality sites, including small or independent sites that are creating useful, original content, when relevant to users' searches. This is an area we'll continue to address in future updates. "
Does the small affiliate have a prayer?

To muddy the already murky waters, there's an issue with ranking too:
Details: https://status.search.google.com/inc...tpuCZkzqe4dc6SThere's an ongoing issue with ranking in Google Search that's affecting a large number of search results. We've identified the root cause. This issue is unrelated to the ongoing core update rollout announced yesterday. We're working on a fix.

Hopefully, there will be some movement soon and by this weekend. We'll know for sure after a couple of weeks after the roll-out. Let's see how things go with this one. The competition's definitely increasing and getting more difficult.
Yes, i've be waiting this update and preparing since March 2024. But until now no change at all. My impressions and clicks are still very very low. Hope this will change in the coming weeks. Anybody recovered from the March update?
Some HCU sites are showing improvement. I have not seen any movement yet.

I would be interesting to know what site Lily's got on that picture to see what they were doing. From what i know there was no point in building links and changing content for dead sites from that penalty hit - plain stupid wasting of money and time. The funny things is that their content is properly indexed, but don't rank for their keywords. If lucky, then only for brand names.
What many people don't get is that once you're hit with a core, spam, hcu, unannounced changes (this impacts the most), your domain is pretty much blacklisted for growth. No matter how much effort you put, nothing will, short of "completely" rebuilding the site from scratch which can take months and years.
Any so-called recovery also doesn't last long. A few weeks after the update, it crashes back down, or you're done in the next update.
I'm beginning to suspect, Google keeps a manual list of sites, they will promote under each and every major category that brings in X number of clicks backed by its search demand (users interest). And these sites will get all the traffic on priority for every keyword under that category.
The rest are just trying trial and error, a few wasting multiple years for nothing fruitful.
Unique content or cookie-clutter templates, doesn't matter. If you are on their "green list" you are sorted for X number of years in growth, until they change their mind and replace you with someone else, they fancy more now.
The picture that Lilly shows on Twitter is likely from one of the sites that Sistrix lists, as Lilly writes content for them. Here is one of the pages with penalty hit sites, in case anyone likes digging:

I'll repeat something about "recovery" I mentioned in another thread a couple months ago. Google's John Mueller actually made a good point about this [paraphrasing]: Sites don't really "recover" as much as they become more or less relevant in a new search ecosystem.
I think he's being honest about that and it does make sense. Rankings aren't permanent as we all know. There are a number of reasons why they might change, some within our control and some outside it.
For example, the fact that your site ranks #1 for "online casinos UK" right now is no guarantee that it will last for weeks, months, or even years in the future. You could hold that position for 24 hours or you could hold it for 2 years. What's more probable? And if you lose that position and regain it later, did you "recover" or get it back for other reasons?
A recovery implies a return to previous conditions. And since the past can't be repeated, you really can't recover as much as you can evolve or get lucky again.
Definitely not defending Google as they were YEARS late on parasite SEO. Their deference to authority sites broke their search results. My fingers are crossed that the site reputation abuse algo rollout kills off some of the remaining offenders. It's extremely annoying to see these sites rank pro forma pages on authority alone.

Seeing a mixed result.. had many pages go back into top 10 for a couple of days then drop to #15-16 etc.. still way better than it was previosuly daily new keywords coming back, impressions have tripled.

Not yet. I’m doing better, but still haven’t returned to my previous position. I’ve come to terms with what Bpmee said: there’s no going back to our old positions. Instead, we have to adapt to the new rules of the game if we want to keep growing or avoid being completely buried. Given the current situation, I don’t think there’s a middle ground for stability, at least for affiliates.
The August Core Update will be interesting to monitor
Informative conversation guys. Thanks.
