Our rates are not 5%...you can ask around (affiliates who actively promote) and you'll see that we give our affiliates some of the best and most flexible deals out there.

The 5% clause is enforced in case the affiliate stops delivering FDs for more than 3 months, and stops communicating with us.
This clause is of course flexible and reversible, so I don't see a reason to worry about it too much if you intend to actively promote us.

You don't need to "ask around". Just visit the William Hill T&Cs - it's clear that rates are 5% if an affiliate is not active.

Let's get the facts straight and not try to deny the absolute truth.

While we're at it, to all affiliates reading this - you get only 10% commission on games and vegas, and it appears that your rev share drops to 20% after 3 months of promoting too on other products.

Hardly any other big affiliate program imposes 5% rev share if an affiliate takes a break from promoting them, and the few that do are not respected at all as serious affiliate programs and affiliates stay away from programs that have restrictive (and might I also say, retro-active changes to T&Cs) terms and conditions. Believe me - I know a LOT of affiliates and I've "asked around" several hundred affiliates, and people DO NOT like this!

You have to realise that if an affiliate HAS to promote you constantly to retain their rev share, then they're not going to like this as sometimes we need to switch between advertisers to optimise the revenue we're getting from our space. Just because we might lower our exposure of a brand for a couple of months should not mean that we get hit on the rev share.

For example, next summer there's not a lot of soccer going on at all - no World Cup, no Euros. For a small affiliate who might deliver only 10 FTDs in a month, they're not going to get anything next summer. So, you then lower their rev share to 5%? If I were a small affiliate building a business I'd be looking to partner with companies that are going to provide me with a sustainable revenue stream, not one that it put in jeopardy when terms and conditions are changed to suit the advertiser.
