138 UK Affiliate Updated Policy

Dear 138 Affiliates,

Please be advised that beginning May 2015 the new 5 player rules comes in effect. Affiliates considered “Active” and eligible for payment will be those that have a minimum of 5 active players***. We have put this procedure in place to minimize affiliate fraud.

Quotas don't work for smaller affiliates like me. I end up not getting paid for ages if at all, so I would rather send my traffic to a partner who rewards me as soon as they get paid. For that reason I'll be removing your brand from all of my website properties.

I certainly understand. We are making case by case exceptions as well, you just need to contact us. We just have players that open affiliate accounts to benefit from both sides. That is not the case with you.

It is actually a very common term in most affiliate programs. We are just transparent and posting it here.

Hmmm, not that I've come across. I work with over 160 different affiliate programs across my sites. What I have found is a term for no withdrawals until there has been 5 new depositors, not in one month just overall. I think this is fairer than having to have 5 active players each month to get paid. The 5 active for each month I've seen in 2 aff programs so far.

For a new webmaster your new terms are restrictive. It takes time to build a player base and many new entrants to the business just can't afford to not get paid for the effort they have put in getting new depositing players to a casino.

I understand there is fraud out there and you have to guard against it. There must be other ways this can be done, because ultimately small affiliates just starting out will not be able to work with you and you'll lose the opportunity to get more traffic and build a business relationship, which could ultimately benefit both of you further down the road.

Guess you could find another solution to minimize the affiliate fraud.

IMHO

A minimum of 5 active player per month is very restrictive, also for "medium" affiliates.
This industry is growing day by day and every day a casino room/bookmaker/bingo/ poker room pops up like mushrooms. Players also have a wide range of choices... so...
For what's my experience, this not help to prevent affiliate frauds but it can increase this phenomenon.
Hack a website and put inside malicious scripts with affiliate links is a fraud... It pays, but it's a fraud... one of a billion...

5 is a lot of players when the competition is so rife

Dont think this ends well for 138 as they don't convert to well anyway

I would not have any affiliates that have any minimum, its just a scam to steal your past players.

It's less the term and more the fact that it's being applied retroactively that concerns me. Retroactive enforcement of terms isn't an acceptable business practice.

It's also only a "common" term amongst the larger booker makers, ones that imo don't worry too much about what affiliates think of them.....

Hi Stephanie,

Just to clarify to get paid out do you need 5 active players in a given month or just have 5 registered players.

So if you have 5 registered but only one plays will you pay out?

just have 5 active players to qualify for payment. Again, we will do case by case exceptions. Just email me.

so 5 players over a lifetime, not per month, they do not need to be all depositors

5dimes require 5 active players, but an active player lasts for one year after deposit, you mention it's a common clause.. Bet365 and 5Dimes both do it however these two have insane conversion rates and great customer retention so getting 5 players is easy, how do you guys compare in conversion terms? One in 18? one in 30 perhaps?

The new term reads

A minimum of 5 active players every month, (Player must make an initial deposit and place 1 bet (qualified bet) at least once a month to be considered an “active player”). In the event that affiliate does not meet the required active player requirement, affiliate earning will be carried over to next month and can only be withdrawn once active player requirement has been fulfilled.
