Ksa aims to avoid promoting illegal games at F1 race

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The Dutch Gaming Authority has ordered the organization of Formula 1 in Zandvoort, Dutch Grand Prix, and race team Sauber not to advertise illegal gambling provider
Stake during the races in Zandvoort.
Sauber’s Formula 1 team is part of the ‘Stake F1 Team’ in most international races. Stake is an international gambling provider and main sponsor of the team. Stake does not have a license from the Ksa and is therefore not allowed to offer games of chance in the Netherlands.
The gambling legislation prohibits the possibility of offering games of chance without a permit, advertising those illegal games of chance or promoting participation in them. Online gaming providers without a license must therefore take measures to prevent participation from the Netherlands, for example with the application of geoblocks. Dutch players will not be able to reach the website. Stake has used such a geoblock.
Despite the measures taken by Stake, the Ksa still sees participation by Dutch players. The Ksa therefore finds it undesirable that at a Dutch event with the reach and the size of Formula 1 advertising is advertised for illegal gambling, also because the event has a lot of attention among vulnerable groups (minors and young adults). The board of the Ksa has therefore urged both Sauber and the Dutch Grand Prix not to drive under the name Stake and not to advertise this provider.
